Scraping Insights - A video interview series by The Web Scraping Club - Join us
Join the recording and ask your questions to key actors in the industry
Tomorrow I’ll start recording the first video interviews of the series that I’ve finally decided to call Scraping Insights.
As a paying subscriber, you have the opportunity to join the recording and ask your questions live. The final videos will be available on the new YouTube Channel of The Web Scraping Club, starting in September (please subscribe if you don’t want to miss them).
Why create another series of video interviews about web scraping?
I enjoy webinars and video interviews, and if I had more time, I would watch them all. However, sometimes, after watching them, I don't feel even 1% more knowledgeable than I was before.
Being an avid YouTube consumer, I always appreciate video interviews, not only about web scraping, with people who have something to tell you, with great expertise and a different point of view.
For this reason, in the Scraping Insights series, you will find interviews with people with different backgrounds, that allow us to understand better several aspects of the web scraping industry.
What you won’t find in Scraping Insights videos?
The videos won’t be video tutorials on “how to bypass X, Y, or Z”. I’m not excluding the possibility of making some of them in the future, with the proper format, but it’s not the case with the Scraping Insights series.
The videos won’t be created as marketing material: I don’t have anything to sell you and the same for the guests.
Who will be my guests?
Probably you already know some of them, since they’re the best in their fields.
The planned video recording sessions for the next two weeks include:
Nick Rieniets: CTO of Kasada.
Antoine Vastel: VP of research at Datadome.
Fabien Vauchelles: anti-ban expert and web scraping specialist at Wiremind. Creator of Scrapoxy.
I think there’s no need for any further comment to underline the quality of the line-up.
The first two videos will be dedicated to the anti-bot industry, its evolution, the use of browser fingerprinting and other techniques, and the difference between good and bad bots. Of course, don’t expect Nick and Antoine to reveal any hidden details about their Coca-Cola recipe, but it will be something worth watching for sure.
With Fabien, instead, we’ll make the reverse process: since the anti-bots changed over time, how our scraper should adapt? what are the new techniques, tools, and solutions to use?
In the following weeks, we’ll have CEOs of well-known companies and web data experts, but still working on their schedules.
How to join the conversations?
Just click on the RiverSide link of the interview at the scheduled time and you’re in.
After the paywall, you get the details (as mentioned, only paying subscribers can join the conversation live).
If you want to ask some questions but don’t want to support The Web Scraping Club (yes, I want you to feel guilty about it), you can write me at pier@thewebscraping.club and I’ll do my best to bring your questions to the guests during the recording.
